Our journey from Bagdogra to Phuentsholing (the Bhutan border town) will begin at 11:15 AM. This timing allows us to comfortably drive towards the border while stopping for a relaxed lunch break along the way.

If you are flying from Mumbai, we recommend the Akasa Air flight departing at 8:45 AM, which arrives in Bagdogra around 10:45 AM. This works perfectly with our departure schedule.

Weather & What to Expect in Bhutan (Late May)
 
Late May is a beautiful time to experience Bhutan. Spring is slowly transitioning into summer, bringing lush green valleys, blooming flowers, and comfortable temperatures across Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha.
 
Days are generally pleasant and mild, perfect for sightseeing, monastery visits, and scenic walks. Mornings are often fresh and clear, offering wonderful mountain views, while afternoons can be slightly warmer, especially in the Punakha valley. Occasionally, you may experience short pre-monsoon showers, usually in the late afternoon or evening, which only add to the freshness of the landscape.

•Paro: 20°C – 25°C during the day | 12°C – 15°C at night
•Thimphu: 18°C – 23°C during the day | 10°C – 13°C at night
•Punakha: 25°C – 29°C during the day | 16°C – 18°C at night
 
The countryside is particularly beautiful at this time, with vibrant greenery, flowing rivers, and clear mornings, making it an excellent season for photography and outdoor experiences.

Day wise Itinerary

Day 1

Bagdogra to Phuentsholing

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Bagdogra to Phuentsholing, the gateway to Bhutan. Along the way, pause to soak in the lush landscapes, enjoy a comforting cup of tea, or savor a local meal. Upon arrival at the border town, our Bhutanese guide will welcome you with heartfelt smiles and help you complete immigration formalities and take you to the hotel for a restful evening. If time permits we will organise a Karaoke session at the hotel itself.

Day 2

Phuentsholing to Thimphu

Wake up to the anticipation of your first glimpse of Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu  After breakfast, we will depart for Thimphu and take a pause at a fascinating monastery. Arriving in Thimphu, settle into your hotel surrounded by the gentle hum of the city and visit the evening markets and soak in the vibes.

Day 3 – Thimphu Exploration

Begin your day, if you wish, with a refreshing easy scenic hike up to the Wangditse Monastery. En route, take a quiet pause at the spiritually uplifting Memorial Chorten, a space where locals gather in prayer and reflection.

Ease into the afternoon with a leisurely traditional Bhutanese lunch at Paradise Restaurant (Tomza).

Step into the heart of Bhutanese culture at Simply Bhutan Museum, where you can try your hand at archery or join in an energetic folk dance.

Later, visit the Bhutan Postal Museum and create your own personalised stamps, a thoughtful keepsake for loved ones back home.

As evening sets in, stroll through Thimphu’s vibrant local markets, filled with handcrafted treasures, colours, and warm Bhutanese smiles.

Day 4 – Thimphu to Punakha

As the morning mist clears, stand in awe of the massive Buddha Dordenma, gazing over the city with quiet grace. Journey through the breathtaking Dochula Pass, adorned with 108 stupas and panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks. In Punakha, explore the majestic Punakha Dzong, perched at the confluence of two rivers, and stroll across the iconic Suspension Bridge.

Day 5 – Picnic and Art Exploration

You can begin your day with a delightful river rafting experience on the waters of Mochu. Its basic, safe and perfect for first timers. After that unwind with a specially arranged Bhutanese lunch under canopies by the riverside, a charming local experience and visit the Sopsokha Village where you can see the artists at work and visit the local shops for some beautiful Paintings.

Day 6: Tiger’s Nest Hike & Traditional Hot Stone Bath (Optional)

After an early breakfast, we set out for one of Bhutan’s most iconic experiences, the hike to Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest Monastery).

Perched dramatically on a cliffside, this sacred monastery is not just a visual marvel but also deeply spiritual. The hike takes about 4–5 hours round trip at a comfortable pace. For those who prefer, a pony ride is available up to the midway point, making the journey more accessible.

Along the way, we pause at a charming cafeteria with stunning views of the monastery, a perfect spot to rest, refuel, and take it all in before continuing the ascent.

After returning to the base, the rest of the day is yours to unwind.

In the evening, you may choose to indulge in a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath (optional), a deeply relaxing experience where river stones are heated and placed in herbal water, believed to ease muscles and promote overall well-being. After the hike, it’s exactly what your body will thank you for.

Day 7: Paro to Phuentsholing – Farewell Bhutan

After a relaxed breakfast in the morning, you can enjoy some last-minute shopping in Paro, perfect for picking up souvenirs, local handicrafts, and little reminders of your time in Bhutan.

By late morning, we begin our drive towards Phuentsholing, descending from the peaceful valleys of Paro through scenic mountain roads into the foothills.

The journey takes approximately 5–6 hours, offering changing landscapes as we move from cool mountain air to the warmer plains near the border.

On arrival, check in and relax for the evening. This is your final night in Bhutan, a good time to unwind and reflect on the beautiful experiences and memories from the trip.

Day 8 – Phuentsholing to Bagdogra

After a relaxed breakfast and last minute shopping, depart from Phuentsholing for your onward journey home with lots of memories and photos
